Bronze for Summer: get that summer glow with bronze and copper eyes

It’s officially heat-wave season and everyone’s flashing a bit of flesh to top up on their tans. Why not accentuate yours with a warm glow by trying out a bronze, or copper eyeshadow trend this summer? It’s the perfect makeup solution for topping up a post-holiday tan. Read on to find out how!

As with any good eyeshadow application, you’ll want to start off with a decent base by applying a primer to your eyelids, such as Laura Mercier’s Eye Basics Primer, which should start you off with a smooth canvas to apply your eyeshadow to. If you’d like to create dimension, opt for a primer that’s slightly darker than your natural skin tone. Laura Mercier’s comes in a range of colours, which makes this product just the trick to achieving this look. Make sure you blend your primer in well with an eyeshadow brush.

Next you’ll want to start layering up your eyeshadow. I’d suggest another Laura Mercier product (can you tell I’m a fan?), the Laura Mercier Terracotta Baked Eyeshadow, which you should blend in well to your base colour.

You’ll want to make your colour pop by highlighting the arch of your brow with a champagne coloured highlighter and line your eyes with a brown eyeliner, such as Urban Decay Bourbon Eyeliner.

Mascara always comes next, so opt for a volumising mascara to give your lashes a bit of oomph, such as the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. Layer up on your mascara according to how thick you want your lashes to look.

Finally, create a bit of a smokey eye effect by lining your lower lids, just below your lash line with the same brown eyeliner and blend your liner in well. Top off your liner with your bronze eyeshadow and blend, blend, blend to create a bronzed smokey eye look.

Complete the look by bronzing your face, which you can learn how to do by following the link to my previous blog post where I teach you how to apply bronzer like a pro!
