I would have to say that blusher is one of the most important cosmetic products in my makeup bag because it really brings my face to life! Using the right type of blusher makes all the difference to brightening up my complexion, which is why I thought it would be a good idea to post this tutorial on how to find the right blusher for your skin tone.
First of all, you’ll want to identify your skin colour and undertone, which can be a combination of: pale, olive, tanned, or dark with a cool or warm undertone. You can generally check whether your skin is cool or warm by doing a colour test, do you look your best in blues and cold colours? Then your skin’s undertone is most likely cool. Does your skin look amazing in bright reds, oranges and golds? Then yours is warm.
My general rule is that pink and light blusher look great on pale skin, while golden bronze blusher and warm berry tones really brings out darker skin tones. Coral, one of current favourite tones, is a great all-rounder.
My personal favourites are:
Nars: Orgasm – with its peachy pink tones, this blusher suits most skin tones and is good for those of you who want to play it safe with your blusher.
Mac: Margin – A shimmery blusher with gold and copper tones, I would even go as far as using this product as a highlighter or eyeshadow.
Charlotte Tilbury: Cheek to Chic Ecstasy Blush – You would be amazed at how great this blusher looks on all skin tones, including darker skin. It actually comes with two shades, which you apply one after the other. This is the perfect choice for a youthful glow!
Is there a particular blusher you’re thinking of buying, but would like to see a review of first? Drop me a comment and I’ll see what I can do!
